I've been the official Mount Olive Pickle Company photographer for many years and this year they asked me to photograph the 2022 Mount Olive Pickle Drop! People come from all over the U.S. and even other countries to attend this event. They always give prizes to the person who travelled the farthest to attend, as well as other prizes. Several hundred people attended the 2022 Mount Olive Pickle Drop on the campus of the University of Mount Olive. It's a well planned event and very family friendly! You can sample free pickles, eat at food trucks, listen to live music, dance with a DJ and watch a 3 foot pickle fall into a giant barrel. The great thing about this event is that you don't have to stay up until midnight to wait for the pickle to drop. It's usually done around 7:30pm and the last few years the evening has ended with a great fireworks display!
