The 2026 North Carolina Pickle Festival
Jun 1 2026 | By: KIRK PULLEN PHOTOGRAPHY
The North Carolina Pickle Festival is one of the most distinctive celebrations in Mount Olive, and it brings the community together in a way that feels lively, colorful, and full of local pride. The festival unfolds throughout the weekend and draws crowds from across the region. Even with warm weather, the energy and excitement never seem to fade.
If you haven't guessed it yet, I'm the official photographer of the North Carolina Pickle Festival. I'm also the owner of KIRK PULLEN PHOTOGRAPHY in Mount Olive, NC. I’m always inspired by events that reflect the spirit of the community. Festivals create the perfect setting for candid moments, expressive portraits, and images that capture the character of the day. Whether it’s families enjoying the festivities, friends sharing a laugh, or the details that make the event memorable, photography helps tell that story in a meaningful way.
The festival keeps on growing!
I’m really impressed by the way the North Carolina Pickle Festival organizers continue to welcome larger crowds and more participants each year.
The morning of the festival often kicks off with the Tour De Pickle bicycle race, where riders can be seen checking their gear and preparing for the long ride ahead.
The 5K Cuke Patch Run brings plenty of excitement, with runners ready to take off and show their spirit. It’s always fun to watch the energy build before the race begins.
The pickle eating contest draws a huge crowd, with spectators gathering to watch contestants compete to eat as many pickles as possible.
Dancers from local studios share their talent on stage near the Mount Olive Pickle Tent, adding even more color and movement to the day.
There is also a costume contest with participants of all ages, and the creativity on display is always a highlight of the festival.
Family friendly event!
One of the best things about the North Carolina Pickle Festival is that it offers something for everyone. Families can enjoy rides, food, and activities that make the day fun for all ages. I also enjoy seeing the unique food and drink creations inspired by pickles, from savory favorites to unexpected treats. It’s a celebration that always makes for great memories and great photographs. I always look forward to photographing the North Carolina Pickle Festival!
This year was special because of the 100th anniversary! A drone show lit up the skies of Mount Olive! I have to say that it was really impressive!
The Carolina Panthers had a presence at the North Carolina Pickle Festival this year! Sir Purr and the Carolina Panthers band members wowed the crowds with their musical abilities while the cheerleaders danced.
